Yes -we eventually take stock don’t we

It’s all a learning process isn’t it; living each successive year. This year I learned many things about myself –maybe for the first time in my adult life I’ve taken stock.

I learned that I haven’t lost my creative spirit, but that its a little rusty and it comes in all kinds of forms. I started exploring creative bogs, art galleries and books as a point of routine. I really enjoy seeing how people express themselves creatively. I learned to knit and started experimenting with watercolour.

Some of my proudest moments as a child and teenager were waking up in the morning after a day of creating something that I was personally proud of; then investigating it all over again with new day eyes. It’s such a great feeling. You get the same feeling after making food when you are in the creative spirit. I realize food making can easily drop into the perfunctory zone, but it can also be very giving and creative. When I was a kid and someone “new” came to my house I would run to my room and pull out all kinds of things to show and tell; “Look! Here is my Teddy…” “This is my paper Mache piñata that I used all my mom’s flour to make…” “Look at my Easy Bake oven!” I still do that apparently. That’s why I inflict my sadly knit flower on you kind folks.

I’m 38 (in Feb.) and I haven’t spent much time at all thinking about what I want in this life or where I want to be. What a shocking revelation that has been to me. I thought only of others in my care until very recently. I suppose in a way I was doing what was important to me, but maybe not necessarily important for me.

This year I need to start getting to know and understand what is important for me. I am looking forward to it.

I wish everyone a wonderful and growing New Year.

New year always seems to bring reflection and potential revisions of oneself. Reflection in my case seems to meander into depression for things i have lost or not become, decisions and directions not taken. This year I would like to shake it up more.. give less and take more… give less to work and take more from life.

OK, so the first time I saw this post title, for some reason I thought it was going to be another recipe… this time for “vegetable stock”. Yeah, I know weird. So, basically you were re-enacting a version of Homer Simpson meets Stendhal’s Syndrome. LOL. (OK, that seemed funny.)

I like your little knitting experiments and finding out about them. It amuses me. ;) L8tr.

I think the new year tends to bring these thoughts of what we’ve done and what is left to do … I appreciate your thoughts and want to let you know that you have inspired me to create my own blog (still in its inception). Thanks for the inspiration and the great ideas!

Michelle -what a wonderful thing to say. This little blog of mine has been such a mish mash of items, i often wonder if i am loosing some of my poor loyal readers. I started blogging mainly about my pets and animal health and when they both passed away that ended a chapter in my life -this blog was there through it all. I do find it helpful -for me and i sincerely hope others find some use in reading my posts. Thank-you for your very kind words. Please let me know when your blog is up an drunning -and happy blogging!
