Simple Knit Sweater

February 3rd, 2006   |  Print This Post

This is my first sweater. I used a pattern from Teen Knitting Club: Chill Out and Knit (see related posts below). It was very simple to knit up. I still make mistakes, but am getting better at spotting them early and being able to fix them! I have a friend -Laurie who is an enormous help. She taught me how to knit and is great at showing me how to fix my mistakes and not to panic.

The Bear I knit came from my leftover wool from this sweater. I should save my wool tags and will endeavour to do so in the future. All I can tell you about this sweater is that it was knit in an acrylic/mohair mix and it was CHEAP! Honestly the choice of “wool” can make all the difference. Often I see a pattern that looks gawd awful, but change the wool and presto -a great project. I used 8mm/11 sized needles and only 3 balls of this wool. The balls were large, but only about $5 each so this was actually a bargain of a sweater unlike my million dollar poncho.
