I am grateful that I recently learned to knit because it has been very helpful taking my mind of sad kitty situation. Here is a photo of my very first set of mittens and a hat. I had a little mishap switching from my ribbing to the stockinet stitch on one mitten.
The thumb gussets were a bit tricky because I had to pick up stitches when I seemed the mitten together, but I got the hang of it by the 2nd mitten too. Also –they were good to practice my decreasing –same for the hat. Both projects were knit on straight needles –then seemed together –very easy.
I don’t find many has that I like on my head. I knit this hat an inch shorter than the recommended length and I think I like it better, however it is a bit loose on my head and I imagine it would fly off at the slightest breeze. Both projects were from a book called: Hip to Knit
