Easy Knit Shawl Pattern

June 19th, 2008   |  Print This Post

I am finally writing down my easy shawl pattern here. I knit this a while ago from a pattern that was written on label with the ball of yarn. It was completely undecipherable!

It seemed to have been written in china and it didn’t make any sense at all in English. I had to read the French to get some understanding. In the end I had to create my own pattern so here it is:

Fancy Yarn, Worsted Weight or a bit bulkier -or whatever you like and adjust needle size
I can’t remember the needles -and of course I didn’t write this part down 5-6 or 8-10 US

  1. Cast on 3 sts
  2. k1,yo,k1,yo,k1 (5)
  3. knit
  4. k2,yo,k1,yo,k2 (7)
  5. knit
  6. k2,yo,knit until 2 stitches remain, yo,k2

REPEAT steps 5&6 until shawl measures the size you would like. This is very quick and easy to do once you understand those repeating rows -I love patterns you don’t have to look at!

Please let me know if this has any problems -this is how I wrote it down. I imagine this formula would make any number of different looks depending on the needles and yarn chosen.

(**Thanks Katie for spotting my mistake!)

Great, I’m gonna try this. First I need to know what YO means, I haven’t come across this yet.

Thanks, it does look easy now. I’m going to get wool next week and make a start over the holidays.

Did you mean repeat rows 5 & 6? I think that makes more sense, but I’m not sure. Thanks for posting this pattern.

Katie- yes I did! I edited the pattern right away -and has now been correct for quite a while. Thanks for the note.
